Asexuality in The Path
A Telepoetic Analysis of a Telenovela Scene

This study analyzes a scene from the telenovela The Path (“Travessia”), a pioneer in addressing asexuality on TV Globo’s prime time, investigating its potential to promote debates on citizenship. Through the lens of telepoetics, the objective is to understand how the scene’s thematic, narrative, and stylistic construction fostered a sensitive discussion. The analysis shows that resources like framing, colors, and a mentoring dialogue created a welcoming environment and fostered identification. It is concluded that technical choices are central for the telenovela to function as a tool for civic imagination and media representation.
