Abstract

The relationship between television and politics has a long history of research in the area of communication. Within the television drama, its importance is enhanced by the active role that gender plays in the discussion of issues and political events in different periods of history. In mid-year of the 2013, one year before the presidential elections, the Rede Globo, aired the remake of the soap opera Saramandaia to portray political issues, with the main plot facing corruption and government inefficiency. Given the importance of striking soap opera in brazilian society, the research aims to analyze how it was constructed representation of politics in the new edition of the soap opera.
