Abstract

The objective of this paper is to understand the social uses of a genre of television fiction (the telenovelas) by women of low and middle-low fractions of popular social classes to analyze the construction of a "femininity of class", captured from perceptions about the world expressed by the informants. Such representations are composed of statements about the self-management in everyday practices and about work, study, family and social relationships. The manifestations made by the interviewed reveal the existence of a women's morality, i.e., the existence of a set of imperatives, values and axiological criteria that bring meaning to practices and constitute them.
