Abstract

The films made by Kléber Mendonça Filho, especially Aquarius (2016), provide a reflection about the contemporary metropolis representations and its political and ethical. The problematic of the right to the city (Lefebvre) is discussed from the imperative of progress - relationship between demolition /construction, erasure of memory, combined with the gentrification processes. The protagonist resistance action may be associated with the categories "trace" (Benjamin) and "survival of the Image" (Didi-Huberman).The contemporary city is allegorized in an idea of corrosion: images of cancer and termites. The disease of the human body and of the urban body, whose locus is the metropolis.
