From the exhibition "Nirvana: Taking Punk To The Masses" we discuss tensions that cross punk and rock in contemporary times, related to issues such as institutionalization, patrimonialization and museification. If such movements have often placed their discourses and practices in opposition to these conditions, today, through the various preservationist and nostalgic dimensions of pop culture, this previous scenario of confrontation is eclipsed by logics typical of late capitalism. In this direction, the exhibition embodies challenges of approach to modern culture, such as the relationship between underground and mainstream; ephemerality and possibility of archiving; DIY and institutionalization.
