Abstract

The context of this research comes from the intersection between Communication and Education. On the side of Communication, it is emphasized the presence of the image as a visual representation, composing several different languages. By means of the ecological nature of their construction, the images establish social and natural correspondences, which favors perceived interactions also within the educational environment. Thereby, it is made the interface with Education. Considering the fact the textbook be among the media responsible for propagating messages involving otherness, was interested in understanding the treatment of the "other" inscribed on their visual representations. If they favored the construction of environments that could provide the coexistence or otherwise. Generally, the many ‘others’ are positioned by heterogeneity and do not attain a xenophobic conduct, that is, solidarity and cordiality predominate.
