PLATFORMIZATION OF POLITICAL COMMUNICATION
algorithmic governance of visibility between 2013 and 2018

The platformization of political communication introduces an algorithmic governance model for the circulation of information that affects national media systems. The empirical research of this work focuses on an original sample of 1,513,780 publications collected between 2013 and 2018 from 500 pages of Facebook. The objective is to assess whether there is any kind of disorder in the dominant visibility of the news media in mass media and websites. The results pointed to what we call a visibility disorder, i.e., the decline in journalistic media shares and the capture of attention by right-wing radicals.
