A esquerda brasileira e a percepção dos efeitos das fake news

Résumé

Este artigo investiga hipóteses do Efeito de Terceira Pessoa relacionadas às fake news disseminadas no Facebook. Estudamos a avaliação da esquerda (n = 1317) sobre o efeito das fake news em si mesma e em outros grupos. Avaliamos as variáveis: i) capacidade de identificar fakenews, ii) frequência de checagem de fontes eiii) experiência anterior de já ter compartilhado fake news. Os resultados apontam que indivíduos tendem a superestimar o efeito negativo das fake news em outros grupos e a subestimar o efeito sobre si mesmos. A discrepância tende a aumentar entre aqueles que se consideram seguros para identificar fake news e aqueles que checam as fontes.
