Abstract

As in other critical moments in the history of economic thought, vg. the Linguistic Turn in early 20th century, marked by the contributions of Keynes and Wittgenstein, economics (political economy as well as its technomathematical forms) is challenged by the imperatives of a new, interdisciplinary paradigm, known as the "iconic turn". A necessary and selfevident emergence of an economy of icons is clearly in sight, that is to say, an economy of information and communication systems which produce value and institute markets.
